DT-7000
IP-CommKit Host Network Interface
Product Overview
Do you want to retire your remaining BNS/Datakit II VCS nodes but are afraid to do so because of connected hosts running legacy applications using CommKit or IP-CommKit? Is there support or source code for your legacy applications? The solution to all these problems is here today: the DT-7000 from Datatek Applications.
THE DT-7000 SOLUTION
The DT-7000 replaces BNS node functionality and allows the completion of the migration process from a BNS network to an all- IP network. The transition is transparent to the resident legacy application(s) on hosts running CommKit or IP-CommKit and to other endpoints.
WHAT IS A DT-7000?
The DT-7000 is an evolutionary design. It replaces the following BNS nodal functions:
- Communication with an IP-CommKit connected host
- The node backplane
- The node controller
- A node's interface to non-CommKit/non-IP CommKit IP endpoints
The DT-7000 enables host communication on an IP network with up to sixty-four other IP-CommKit hosts, each connected to its own DT-7000 via an IP network and with over five hundred IP endpoints. IP endpoints may include a BNS network and its associated endpoints.
MIGRATION STRATEGY
In order to use a DT-7000, any copy of CommKit currently in use on the host must be replaced with IP-CommKit. No changes to host application software are required, so the conversion to IP-CommKit is transparent. The host is then connected via IP to a DT-7000. The DT-7000 communicates with other endpoints in an IP network without being connected to a BNS network, with the application functionality remaining unchanged.
Features
Key Features:
- Replacement of BNS Node functions for one IP-CommKit Host.
- Communication with over 500 IP endpoints and 64 other IP-CommKit Hosts connected to DT-7000's. (Endpoints can be resident on a BNS network)
- Closed User Group security for protection of sensitive network endpoints
- Peer-to-peer communications using secure encryption
- Extensive measurement reporting and diagnostic capabilities
- SNMP management
- 10/100M LAN Interface
- Power Over Ethernet (POE) support
- High Availability Redundant Failover Option
- No changes required in Host application software, operations tables, or procedures
- Locate the Host and DT-7000 anywhere in an IP network.
- Host and DT-7000 do not have to be co-located.
- Easy configurationt
- Remotely administered via telnet console, or locally via serial console.
- Allows staged elimination of BNS nodes
- Small size - frees valuable floor space
- Rack-mount in a standard 19" or 23" frame or standalone on a shelf or table.
- Requires no special cooling
- No internal fans to break down
